Our
Mission...
It is our mission at Alternative
Homes for Youth (AHFY) to teach, support and model healthy life skills
to youth and families by providing therapeutic and educational
interventions to end violence.
Opportunity for
Success…
Today’s youth face many
challenges, especially when they are victim to abuse, neglect and
poverty. They may experience significant difficulties at home, at
school and/or within the community. These problems could be the
result of mental illness, learning disabilities, chaotic family
environments, emotional or behavioral disorders- or sometimes just “poor
choices”. Our goal is to provide these young people with the
opportunities to overcome their obstacles and lead successful and stable
lives. By providing them with structure, tools for success,
and a support system for positive growth, Alternative Homes for Youth
gives them the chance to turn their lives around and lead healthy,
productive lives.
Established in 1976 as a group
home for troubled teens, AHFY has evolved over the years into a program
for troubled youth. Our programs include residential treatment,
drug and alcohol therapy, alternative educational programs and intensive
individual, group and family therapy. With these services, our
agency offers teens (ages twelve through eighteen) and their families a
positive environment to explore life experiences and create positive
futures. Within our treatment program, they have the opportunities
to learn how to share common goals, build appropriate relationships, and
discover and actualize their own self-worth.
