A Taste of Our Philosophy...
· Community
safety is paramount.
· Victims
are not responsible for being victimized under any circumstance.
Treatment modalities will come from a victim-centered approach.
· Evaluation,
ongoing assessment, treatment and behavioral monitoring of youth at AHFY
will be non-discriminatory, humane and bound by the rules of ethics and
law.
· Every
effort should be made to avoid labeling youth as if their behavior
defines them.
· Alternative
Homes for Youth recognizes that youth require a place to grow, learn and
develop pro-social skills. We believe in creating an environment that
fosters respect, care and concern.
On a
residential level, we have a treatment center for male youth who have
been abused, abusive and traumatized. We also provide independent
living services and opportunities. This a victim-centered treatment
program which largely employs the evidence-based treatment
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach,
supported by Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT)
in individual and group sessions, Collaborative Problem Solving
and Non-violent communication in the milieu. The following treatment
